A well-preserved, one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries in Poland. Built in the 11th century by the order on a hill on the northeastern shore of Lake Mogileńskie. The history of the monastery is very interesting and noteworthy. It played a huge role in the Christianization of Mazovia and Pomerania during the Middle Ages. From 1880, the monastery housed a hospital. In 1940-41, English prisoners of war were held there. Later, for several months, women of Jewish origin were imprisoned. From 1943, the monastery again served as a field hospital for German soldiers, and this is just a snippet of the information.
